Youngstown State University students at The Jambar, Jambar TV, the Society of Collegiate Journalists YSU chapter and the Anderson Program in Journalism at YSU joined the Youngstown Press Club, The Business Journal and WKBN-TV to present a Student Press Freedom Day program to raise awareness of student journalism and the power of the student press.
The event was at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Kilcawley Center's Schwebel Lounge.
Student Press Freedom Day is a national day of action when we celebrate the contributions of student journalists and the need to support their independence without censorship or threat to their advisers. The day calls attention to the arbitrary and needless censorship of student journalists, and calls upon elected officials to restore and protect student press freedom.
