Mike McIntyre, executive editor of Ideastream Public Media, spoke to a Youngstown Press Club audience on Feb. 15, 2024, at Concept Studio, Youngstown.
Mike spent 30 years as a reporter, feature writer, Sunday Magazine staffer and metro columnist for The Plain Dealer, where he also wrote about stand-up comedy for the Friday! Magazine. In 2010, Mike took over hosting duties for the “Sound of Ideas,” WKSU’s daily public affairs talk show. He held that job for 10 years. Mike became executive editor in 2020 and continues to host the Friday “Sound of Ideas Reporters Roundtable” on WKSU and “Ideas” on WVIZ.
He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and he received the Herb Caen Memorial Award of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists in 2010. He was inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland's Journalism Hall of Fame in 2016.
