The Youngstown Press Club recognizes excellent work in journalism, media and communications in its Hall of Fame, Excellence in Media Award, First Amendment Award, Medal of Merit, and in its scholarships.

The Youngstown Press Club Hall of Fame
commemorates those members of our community who have had long and distinguished careers in media. This award will be given to people nearing the end or at the end of their careers.

This year the press club will induct into the Hall of Fame
Marie Cartwright, vice president of corporate communications for DeBartolo Properties Management Inc.; Tony Paglia, former senior regional editor at The Vindicator; Lisa Solley, former managing editor at the Tribune Chronicle; the late Paul Jagnow, managing editor for news at The Vindicator ; and the late John Nagy, WKBN radio news director.

The Excellence in Media Award honors those who are currently doing exemplary work in one of the mass communication fields. This year Excellence in Media Awards will go to Sydney Canty, news anchor and reporter at WFMJ-TV; Margie Lenhart, radio host and voiceover talent; and Chelsea Simeon, digital executive producer at WKBN-TV.

The Medal of Merit is an award for a member of the Youngstown Press Club who has contributed significantly to the success of the club. This year the Medal of Merit goes to Pete Milliken, retired reporter for The Vindicator and head of media relations for the Youngstown Press Club.

These awards will be presented at the banquet, along with recognition of the Youngstown Press Club's college scholarship winners, Nicarlyle Hanchard, Aicha Sawaneh and Emily Wilaj, all Youngstown State University students. Also recognized will be Lillian Andrews, a Boardman High School student, winner of the Scholastic Journalism Awards' Scholastic Journalist of the Year.
