Celebrating and supporting the student press
Student Press Freedom Day is a reminder that a free, independent student press is essential to a healthy democracy and to the future of journalism itself.
Student journalists learn not only how to report and tell stories, but how to ask hard questions, verify facts, and serve their communities with integrity—skills that last a lifetime. When students are free to report without censorship or intimidation, they gain the confidence to speak truthfully and responsibly, and the public gains informed, engaged citizens.
Supporting student journalism means protecting these voices, investing in the next generation of reporters and communicators, and affirming that press freedom matters at every level—from school newsrooms to the national stage.
Join us as we celebrate and support student press everywhere, particularly here in the Mahoning Valley.
